FAQ's

We are doing check-in early this year!

On Sunday, September 17th at 3:00pm, we will meet at Beltway South Campus in the South Foyer (with the fountain) and run through check in early. If you are an out-of-town attendee, you will check in at Lakeview Camp the day of.

What do I need to bring?

Comfortable clothes - we will be outdoors much of the time, so dress for the weather.

Comfortable walking shoes (water shoes are optional if you plan on getting wet in the lake) Closed-toe shoes are recommended if you plan on doing other adventure type activities that are optional.

Swimwear for the lake

Sunscreen & a hat

Swimwear for lake & swimming pool

Clothes you don't mind parting ways with if you decide to partake in the mud pit during free time

Bedding for single bed or sleeping bag

Towel & toiletries

If you wish to fish, you can bring your own equipment & fishing license

Bible & pen (we will have something for you to write on)

Flashlight (optional...the camp is well lit at night)

Any medicines you regularly take (we will have an on-site medic, but we encourage you to bring whatever you normally need).

Our sessions will be inside a fully air-conditioned building with its own chairs. However, you will need to bring your own chair for Fire Team time. Your group will be meeting outside regularly, and each man will need his own chair to add to the circle.

Do I need to bring money or is everything covered in the cost of camp?

You can come to camp without a penny in your pocket and you will be fine.

There are some optional things you may want to bring a few dollars for:

There is a camp store if you wish to purchase any Lakeview Camp gear.

There is a snack store if you want to buy any additional snacks, candy, sodas and other drinks.

We usually take a "tip" to give the camp staff who serve us during the weekend if you want to bring a few $$ to throw in the bucket.

How is the food?

Keep in mind, it will be camp food, BUT it will be good camp food. Lakeview staff will serve us cafeteria style in the dining hall while we are at camp from Friday morning’s breakfast through Sunday morning’s breakfast when we leave. Thursday dinner is on your own, so grab something on your way in. Camp will officially be over at 11:00am. Sunday lunch is on your own on the way home.

Lakeview also has options for gluten and dairy free dietary restrictions.

What about food and snacks during the day?

We have a hospitality team that will take care of you during the day.   You will be issued a sturdy reusable plastic bottle upon arrival at camp.   Our hospitality crew will keep a steady stream of water, Gatorade, lemonade, and other cold flavored drinks ready for you during the day and into the evening.   They will also provide peanut butter crackers, chips, cookies, and other snacks during the day if you need something in between meals.   This is all included in the price of your registration. If you wish to buy candy, sodas, or other products, the camp snack shack will be open at various times during the day and in the evening.

The hospitality team will also have some basic first aid supplies should you need a Band-Aid or other minor item.

You are welcome and encouraged to bring your own extra snacks as you desire.

I'm an early riser, are there early morning activities?

Lakeview will have free morning coffee with breakfast. Each cabin has a back porch view of either the lake or a forested hiking trail. All lake activities (aside from bank fishing) and adventure activities are closed in the morning. Our first scheduled item is Breakfast at 7:30am.

Will my cell phone work?

Yes, but for your best Boot Camp experience, our leadership team HIGHLY encourages that any business you need to take care of is done in the morning before our first sessions begin.

Will I be able to contact my family while I'm there?

Yes, but you will be highly encouraged to fully engage without your cellphone all weekend long. We recommend disconnecting from the outside world while you are at Boot Camp and not calling home unless you need to check in. The best time to communicate back home is in the mornings.

What are the accommodations?

Well…it is camp…but they are nice. Most of the rooms are set up with bunk beds, showers, sinks, and a toilet. All cabins come with a back porch with a view of either the lake or the forested hiking trails. They aren’t fancy but they are decent. All rooms have air conditioning. If you have trouble sleeping with others in the room, you may want to bring earplugs (it has been reported that some men snore!) Camp Lakeview’s cabins are well taken care of and are fairly spacious.

Can I drop out at the last minute?

You can drop out IF an EMERGENCY comes up but there are no refunds past September 8th. We have to pay Lakeview for you coming WHETHER YOU SHOW UP OR NOT. Once the September 8th deadline passes, we turn a number in to Lakeview and we are locked into that number as they will order our food and other provisions at that time. They also use the number we turn in to make sure they have adequate staff there to serve us.

Your $100 deposit is NON-REFUNDABLE.

PLEASE make every effort to attend if you sign up.

What can I expect while I'm there?

We don’t want to ruin all the surprises of what happens at Boot Camp but here are the basics. Great speakers – each of the sessions will feature speakers that are just like you (our own men) and we also are bringing in a couple guest speakers. Some of the sessions will use movie clips as part of the message. All sessions are held in an air-conditioned, fully seated, worship center. Powerful worship – the Boot Camp team consists of a band and audio-visual team from Beltway Park Church. We bring the A-Team. Our worship is one of the most highly rated things from camp every year. Alone time with God – after a few of the sessions you will be sent out to spend some time alone with God and hear what He has for you. Fireteam time – after some of the sessions you will break out with 6-8 other guys to discuss the topics that were just taught. Lots of times you will form close relationships with your Fireteam. Great food, great conversation, new relationships, adventure, encouragement, rest, and most of all…a chance to encounter Jesus in a new and powerful way.

How will we get there?

Carpool with your group. Suggested arrival time on Thursday starts at 5:00pm. Grab dinner with them on your way in. You will be greeted with parking instructions, and cabin location. Camp will officially start at 7:00pm.

Lakeview’s address is 5128 FM 66 Waxahachie, TX 75167

When will we get back?

The event is over at 11:30am on Sunday and lunch will be on your own on the way home.
